Overview
About Dental Bridges
Dental bridges are fixed appliances that replace one or more missing teeth by literally bridging the gap between adjacent natural teeth or implants. A bridge not only restores your smile and ability to properly chew and speak, but it also maintains facial shape and prevents remaining teeth from drifting out of position.
Our custom-made bridges are designed to match your natural teeth in color, shape, and function, providing a seamless and comfortable solution for tooth loss.
At Spire Dental Care, we understand that missing teeth can affect your confidence and quality of life. Our dental bridges offer a reliable, non-removable solution that looks and functions like natural teeth. Each bridge is custom-crafted in a dental laboratory using high-quality materials selected for their durability, aesthetics, and biocompatibility.
The bridge procedure typically requires at least two visits. During your first appointment, we prepare the supporting teeth (called abutments) by removing a small amount of enamel to make room for the crowns that will anchor your bridge. We then take precise impressions of your teeth, which are sent to our dental laboratory where your custom bridge is fabricated. A temporary bridge protects your prepared teeth and gums until your permanent bridge is ready.
At your second appointment, we remove the temporary bridge and carefully place your permanent bridge, making any necessary adjustments to ensure a comfortable fit and proper bite alignment. Once we're satisfied with the fit, the bridge is permanently cemented into place, instantly restoring your complete smile.
With proper care and regular dental check-ups, your dental bridge can last 10-15 years or longer. Our team provides detailed instructions on how to clean and maintain your bridge, including the use of specialized flossing tools to clean underneath the pontic (replacement tooth).
Process
Our Dental Bridges Procedures
Traditional Bridges
Fixed prosthetic devices anchored to adjacent natural teeth with dental crowns, providing a stable and permanent solution for missing teeth.
Cantilever Bridges
Specialized bridges used when there are healthy teeth on only one side of the gap, anchored by one or more crowns on the adjacent teeth.
Maryland Bridges
Conservative option that uses metal or porcelain wings bonded to the back of adjacent teeth, requiring minimal alteration of supporting teeth.
Implant-Supported Bridges
The most stable and long-lasting option, anchored by dental implants surgically placed in the jawbone, preserving bone health and adjacent teeth.

- Cantilever Bridges: Used when there are healthy teeth on only one side of the gap, these bridges are anchored by one or more crowns on just one side.
- Maryland Bridges: A more conservative option that uses metal or porcelain wings bonded to the back of adjacent teeth, requiring minimal alteration of supporting teeth.
- Implant-Supported Bridges: The most stable and long-lasting option, these bridges are anchored by dental implants surgically placed in the jawbone.
Benefits of Choosing Dental Bridges
Dental bridges offer numerous advantages for patients with missing teeth:
- Restore your ability to chew and speak properly
- Maintain the shape of your face and prevent sagging
- Prevent remaining teeth from drifting out of position
- Distribute bite forces properly, protecting your remaining teeth
- Provide a fixed, non-removable solution (unlike partial dentures)
- Typically completed in just two appointments
Caring for Your Dental Bridge
Proper maintenance is essential for the longevity of your dental bridge. We recommend:
- Brushing twice daily with a soft-bristled toothbrush
- Using floss threaders or interdental brushes to clean under and around the bridge
- Rinsing with an antimicrobial mouthwash
- Avoiding hard or sticky foods that could damage the bridge
- Wearing a nightguard if you grind your teeth
- Scheduling regular dental check-ups and professional cleanings
Is a Dental Bridge Right for You?
While dental bridges are an excellent solution for many patients with missing teeth, they're not the only option. During your consultation, we'll discuss all available treatments, including dental implants and partial dentures, to help you make an informed decision based on your oral health, lifestyle, and budget.
